In 2021, the country ranked 49th in the world, with Algeria surpassing it at 39 thousand metric tons. India, Indonesia and Nigeria came in second, third and fourth place respectively. Palm oil production in Papua New Guinea is estimated to grow 1.9% year-on-year in 2026, to 761 thousand metric tons, after increasing 5.2% since 1976. In 2021, the country ranked 8th in the world, with Honduras overtaking it at 681 thousand metric tons. Malaysia, Thailand and Colombia came in second, third and fourth place respectively.
