Icelanders are set to consume 32,000 metric tons of meat annually by 2026. This figures is a 0.6% increase compared to 2021. Iceland has remained a steady consumer of meat since 2017 and is currently ranked 143rd in terms of meat consumption. Malta is ahead of Iceland with 31,000 metric tons of meat consumed annually. The United States, Brazil and Russia are ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Iceland is also producing 38,420 metric tons of meat annually by 2026, a 1% year on year increase. This figure has been rising steadily since 1966, with an annual growth rate of 1.3%. Iceland is currently ranked 150th in terms of meat production, with East Timor ahead of them with 36,300 metric tons. The United States Virgin Islands, Brazil and Russia are the 2nd, 3rd and 4th biggest producers of meat respectively. Iceland's meat sales dropped from €358.7 million in 2017 to €347.6 million in 2018. This placed Iceland in 30th place, with Estonia overtaking them with €347.6 million. France, Spain and Italy are the 2nd, 3rd and 4th largest meat sellers respectively.
