Iranian cotton imports are expected to rise to $210 million by 2026. Since 2002, demand has increased by an average of 4.3% each year. Iranian cotton production, however, is projected to drop to $61 million in 2026 from $75 million in 2021. This is a decrease of 3.5% on average each year since 1966. In 2021, Iran ranked 26th in the world for cotton production, overtaken by Malawi, which produced $75 million. China, the United States and Pakistan followed in second, third and fourth place, respectively.
