South Africa is set to become the largest importer of palladium in the coming years, with imports expected to reach 2,840 kilograms by 2026. This is an increase of 4.7% annually since 2021, when imports stood at 2,170 kilograms. The country ranked 14th in 2021, behind Kazakhstan, the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom, which held the top three spots. South Africa's palladium exports also saw a significant jump in 2018, reaching 9,620 kilograms from 6,280 kilograms in 2017 - an increase of 53.3%. Since 2006, exports have decreased by 15.1% annually.
