Ecuador is set to become the 21st largest producer of sugarcane in the world by 2026. Production of this crop is expected to grow by 0.9% annually between 2021 and 2026, reaching 9.6 million metric tons. This is up 1% from its 1966 level. In 2021, Iran was the top producer of sugarcane with 9.1 million metric tons, followed by India, Thailand and China with 7.5 million, 5.6 million and 5.4 million metric tons respectively.
