Demand for Sugarcane in Bangladesh is projected to reach 400,000 metric tons by 2026, up from 366,000 metric tons in 2021. This growth rate of 1.4% year on year is down from the rate of 1.2% from 2017. Bangladesh was the ninth largest consumer of Sugarcane in 2021, while Kenya was ahead with 366,000 metric tons. Brazil, Thailand and Egypt came in second, third and fourth place, respectively. Meanwhile, Bangladeshi Sugarcane production is expected to hit 2.2 million metric tons by 2026, down from 2.9 million metric tons in 2021. This decrease of 5.2% year on year on average is a steeper decline than the 6.9% decrease seen since 1966. Bangladesh was 41st in the rankings in 2021, while Mauritius was ahead with 2.9 million metric tons. India, Thailand and China came in second, third and fourth place, respectively.
