India is set to become the world's largest consumer of sugarcane by 2026, with its demand expected to reach 17.3 million metric tons. This is an increase of 0.5% from 2021, when the country consumed 16.8 million metric tons. Brazil, Thailand and Egypt were the second, third and fourth biggest consumers in 2021. Indian sugarcane production is forecast to reach 441.3 million metric tons by 2026, a 1.3% increase from 2021. Since 1966, Indian supply has risen by an average of 3.2% per year. In 2021, Brazil overtook India as the world's largest producer, with 407.8 million metric tons. India, Thailand and China were the second, third and fourth biggest producers in 2021.
