Tunisia saw an incredible surge in demand for dried fruit in 2017, with imports increasing by 421% from the previous year. Imports totaled $159,000, compared to just $30,500 in 2016. Supply, however, was not keeping up with demand. Exports of dried fruit increased by 202% to $20,000 in 2017, compared to $6,500 in 2016. However, since 1996, Tunisia's demand for dried fruit has decreased 17%, while its supply has decreased 59.5%.
