In 2021, Malta was the 80th largest importer of dried fruit, overtaken by Iceland at $1.2 million. Germany, the UK and China followed, ranking 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively. Maltese exports of dried fruit soared to $966,000 in 2018, up from $379,000 in 2017, a 154.9% increase year-on-year. That year, Malta recorded the highest growth rate in dried fruit exports of any country in the world.
