Hungary is set to consume 76 thousand metric tons of sunflower oil by 2026, up 1.7% from 69 thousand metric tons in 2021. Over the past four years, demand has risen 2.5% annually. In 2021, Hungary ranked 24th in the world, with Bulgaria at number one, consuming 69 thousand metric tons. Russia, Spain and Argentina followed in second, third and fourth place. Meanwhile, Hungarian production of sunflower oil is projected to reach 951 thousand metric tons by 2026, an increase of 2.8% from 807 thousand metric tons in 2021. Since 1966, production has grown 2.9% each year. In 2021, it was the fourth-largest producer, behind Argentina, Russia and Hungary.
