The consumption of spices in the United Arab Emirates is projected to decline significantly over the next five years. By 2028, the country’s spice consumption is expected to drop to around 17,000 metric tons from an estimated 22,000 metric tons in 2023, marking an annual decline rate of approximately 4.5%. This downward trend follows a steady decrease in demand observed since 2019, with an annual reduction of roughly 3.3%. In 2023, the UAE ranked 36th globally in spice consumption. South Korea surpassed the UAE with an equivalent consumption rate of 22,000 metric tons. Leading the global rankings, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Thailand secured the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively, in spice consumption for the year.
