Iraq is projected to become one of the top spice consumers in the world in the coming years. By 2026, the country is expected to consume 21,600 metric tons of spices, a 4.1% growth from the current 17,000 metric tons. Since 2017, Iraqi demand for spices has grown by an average of 9.4% annually. In 2021, Iraq ranked 44th in the world for spice consumption. Poland was ahead of Iraq, consuming 17,000 metric tons. Bangladesh, Indonesia and China respectively ranked second, third and fourth in this ranking.
