Despite this downward trend, Maldivian fruit supply has seen a historical increase of 1.4% year-on-year since 1966. However, in the global ranking for 2023, the Maldives stood at 176th place. Eritrea surpassed the Maldives with a production of about 4,630 metric tons. Leading the global fruit production rankings are India, Brazil, and Mexico, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
