Rwandan pea consumption is forecast to reach 5,000 metric tons by 2026, down 9% from 2021's 9,000 metric tons. Since 2017, demand has dropped 6.5% annually. In 2021, the country ranked 43rd in pea consumption, with Egypt at the top with 9,000 metric tons. China, Ethiopia and Bangladesh placed second, third and fourth, respectively. In terms of production, Rwandan pea output is expected to total 10,160 metric tons in 2026, a 4.2% decrease from 2021's 13,060 metric tons. Production has decreased 4.9% year-on-year since 1966.
