In 2021, the country was the 38th largest producer of lentils, behind Uzbekistan at 839 metric tons. India, Australia, and the United States ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively. Since 1966, Malagasy lentil production has grown steadily, reaching 857 metric tons in 2026.
