China is set to become the world’s leading producer of lentils by 2026. In 2021, the country achieved a production of 186,520 metric tons of lentils, up 1.3% from the previous year. Since 1989, the country’s supply has grown by an average of 2.2% per year. China was ranked seventh in the world for lentil production in 2021, with Bangladesh leading the pack with 173,100 metric tons. India, Australia and the United States came in second, third and fourth, respectively.
