India is the second highest consumer and producer of peanuts in the world. In 2021, the country consumed 6.97 million metric tons of peanuts, second only to China, which consumed 7.37 million metric tons. India's demand for peanuts rose 1.9% year-on-year from 2017 to 2021, and is projected to fall 0.1% by 2026. At the same time, India was also the second highest producer of peanuts in 2021, producing 7.38 million metric tons, trailing China's 7.37 million metric tons.
