South African animal fat consumption is expected to reach around 44,000 metric tons by 2026. From 2017 to 2021, demand rose at an average of 2.7% year-on-year. South Africa was the 60th largest consumer of animal fat in 2021, behind Ethiopia at 37,000 metric tons. The United States, Germany and France were the second, third and fourth largest consumers respectively.
