Guatemala is set to produce 71,000 metric tons of peppers by 2026, a 1.8% year-on-year increase from the 64,000 tons produced in 2021. Since 1966, pepper production in the country has grown by an average of 3.7% annually. In 2021, Guatemala placed 39th in the world rankings, with Canada coming in first with 64,000 metric tons. Mexico, Indonesia, and Spain took spots 2, 3, and 4 respectively. Guatemalan pepper consumption totalled 1,000 metric tons in 2018, up from 1,000 tons the year before.
