The country has seen a steady increase in production since 1966, with an average yearly growth of 3.5%. Greece was the twentieth largest pepper producer in 2021, behind Peru and ahead of Mexico, Indonesia, and Spain. In 2018, Greece consumed 1,000 metric tons of peppers, a slight increase from the 1,000 metric tons consumed in 2017.
