Since 2019, the country's demand for oilseeds has risen by 2.8% each year. In global rankings, Egypt held the 10th position in 2023, while Japan surpassed it with a matching 1.05 million metric tons. Leading the rankings were India, Indonesia, and Brazil, occupying the second, third, and fourth spots respectively. On the production front, Egypt’s oilseeds output is expected to reach approximately 470,000 metric tons by 2028, increasing from around 420,000 metric tons in 2023. This reflects an average annual growth rate of 1.8%. Historical data indicates that since 1966, Egypt's oilseeds supply has grown by 1.7% each year. In 2023, Egypt ranked 47th globally in oilseeds production, with Burkina Faso slightly ahead at a similar production level. The top producers in this category were Brazil, Malaysia, and the United States, holding the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
