Peru's consumption of oilseeds is projected to grow to nearly 167,000 metric tons by 2028, up from approximately 159,000 metric tons in 2023. This marks an average annual growth rate of 0.7%. Despite this increase, Peruvian demand for oilseeds has remained stable since 2019. As of 2023, Peru ranks 39th globally in oilseed consumption, with Colombia just ahead at the same level of consumption. Leading the global rankings are India, Indonesia, and Brazil, occupying the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively. In terms of production, Peru is expected to see its oilseed output rise to over 351,000 metric tons by 2028, up from around 296,000 metric tons in 2023. This represents an average annual growth rate of 2.7%. Historical data shows that since 1966, Peru's oilseed supply has increased at an average annual rate of 3.2%. In 2023, Peru ranked 54th in global oilseed production, with Mali surpassing it with the same level of production. Globally, Brazil, Malaysia, and the United States hold the second, third, and fourth positions in oilseed production, respectively.
