Botswana's oilseed consumption is predicted to reach approximately 8,500 metric tons by 2026, up from 7,000 metric tons in 2021. This growth of 3.5% year on year on average has been observed since 2017 when the demand rose by 5.3%. In 2021, Botswana ranked 127th, with Mauritius taking the lead at 7,000 metric tons. India, Indonesia and Brazil followed in second, third and fourth place, respectively. Meanwhile, in 2019, Botswana's oilseed production decreased drastically from 548 metric tons in 2018 to 148 metric tons. This is a decrease of 73% compared to 2018, and since 1966, the supply has decreased by 18.6% year on year. In 2019, Botswana ranked 173rd, with Bhutan taking the lead at 148 metric tons. Brazil, the United States and Malaysia took second, third and fourth place respectively.
