Canada is projected to remain a steady consumer of barley over the next five years, with levels of consumption expected to remain around 13 thousand metric tons by 2026. This is in line with the trend seen since 2017, where demand has remained unchanged. In 2021, Canada ranked 39th in terms of barley consumption, with North Korea leading at 13 thousand metric tons. Morocco, India and Algeria had the next highest levels of consumption, in that order. Production of barley is also set to remain relatively steady in the next five years, with an estimated 10,052,000 metric tons of barley expected to be produced in Canada by 2026, a slight increase from 2021's 9,806,300 metric tons. This represents a 0.4% year-on-year growth rate since 1966, when production saw a 2.1% year-on-year increase. Germany led the ranking of barley production in 2021, with France, Germany and Canada coming in second, third and fourth respectively.
