Chinese demand for barley is on the rise, with consumption set to reach 498,810 metric tons by 2026. This growth of 0.8% per year since 2017 will make China the 5th largest consumer in the world, behind Algeria, Morocco, India and Australia. Meanwhile, Chinese production of barley is set to plummet, with output forecast to fall to 115,760 metric tons by 2026. This represents a decrease of 13% since 1966. This will make China the 34th largest producer in the world, behind Austria, France, Germany and Canada.
