Japanese pulses production is projected to decline to approximately 55,000 metric tons by 2028, down from around 62,000 metric tons in 2023. This represents an average annual decrease of 1.9%. Despite the anticipated decline, Japan has seen a historical increase in pulses supply, growing at an average rate of 3.2% per year since 1966. In the 2023 global rankings, Japan was positioned at number 81, with Chile slightly ahead, also producing around 62,000 metric tons. Leading the list, Myanmar, Canada, and China secured the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively.
