European consumption of synthetic fibers is set to reach almost three billion kilograms by 2026. This represents a year-on-year growth rate of 0.3%. Since 2016, demand has decreased by 0.2% each year. In 2021, German demand was highest at around 790 million kilograms. Italy, the UK and Spain followed, in that order. The UK’s demand grew 4.3% year-on-year since 2016, while the Netherlands saw a decrease of 5.9%.
