Burkinabe soap exports are on the decline. This year, they've dropped by 24.1% compared to 2020, reaching 713,000 kilograms. In the last 18 years, exports have decreased by 36.4%. Meanwhile, imports are on the rise. In 2021, the country imported 2.4 million kilograms of soap. That's 2.6% higher compared to the previous year. Since 2000, Burkinabe demand for soap grew 4.5% year on year. In 2021, the country was ranked 89th in global imports, with Armenia ahead at 2.1 million kilograms. The United States, Czech Republic, and Russia followed as the top three importers.
