In 2019, Swiss imports of prescription glasses surged to approximately $29,000, marking a significant 54% increase from the previous year's total of about $19,000. Despite this recent uptick, the long-term trend shows a decline, with the Swiss demand for prescription glasses down by nearly 34% annually since 1993. On the export front, Switzerland saw its prescription glasses exports rise sharply to around $900 in 2019, more than doubling from the $440 recorded in 2018. This represents an impressive 103% increase year-on-year. However, similar to imports, the longer-term perspective reveals a decrease, with Swiss supply falling by almost 60% annually since 1993.
