In a sharp rise, Ireland's import of prescription glasses surged to approximately $61,000 in 2018, a significant increase from around $36,000 in 2017. This represents a 69.9% jump compared to the previous year. Irish demand for prescription glasses has been on a consistent upward trajectory, growing at an average rate of 11.4% year on year since 1997. Conversely, exports of Irish prescription glasses witnessed a substantial decline in 2018. The export value plummeted to nearly $111,000, down from about $439,000 in 2017. This marks a steep 74.7% decrease compared to the previous year. Despite this drop, the long-term trend since 1997 shows a robust 101.5% annual increase in the supply of Irish prescription glasses.
