This decline in maternal deaths is due to increased access to healthcare and improved healthcare quality. The Mongolian government has introduced several initiatives to improve maternal health, such as providing health education and increasing the number of skilled birth attendants. These initiatives have enabled the country to reduce maternal mortality rate from 45 deaths in 2005 to 30 deaths in 2021. It is expected to further reduce to 25 deaths by 2026.
