Cameroon is projected to experience a 3.7% increase in malaria prevalence by 2026, with an estimated 2.13 million cases. This will be an increase from the 1.68 million cases recorded in 2021, when the country ranked 20th in the world. However, since 2016, Cameroon's demand for malaria cases has fallen by 0.2% year-on-year. Chad overtook Cameroon in 2021 with 1.68 million cases, while Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Mozambique came in second, third and fourth, respectively.
