This marks a decrease of nearly 10 percent in the number of cases. The Ministry of Health has reported that the decrease is likely attributed to a successful campaign in increasing awareness about the disease among Jamaicans, as well as increased testing and diagnosis of Tuberculosis. The Ministry of Health has now set a goal to reduce the prevalence of Tuberculosis in Jamaica to less than 80 cases by the end of 2015. This is accompanied by a plan to increase access to early diagnosis and treatment, as well as to implement preventive measures.
