Kenyan imports of methanol rose 17.9% in 2018 to 5.4 million kilograms, up from 4.5 million kilograms in 2017. Since 1997, demand for the fuel has increased 3.9% annually. Exports of methanol fell 21.3% in 2018, totalling 126,300 kilograms compared to 160,400 kilograms the previous year. Since 1997, supply of the fuel has increased 22.1% annually. In 2018, the country ranked first for methanol exports, with 4.1 billion kilograms. Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United States followed in second, third and fourth place respectively.
