Romanian Methanol import is set to grow 3% year on year from 2021 to 2026. In 2021, the figure is estimated to stand at 197 million kilograms, rising to 236 million kilograms by 2026. Since 1996, Romanian demand has increased by nearly 5% on a yearly basis. In 2018, Romanian Methanol export stood at 2.8 million kilograms, down by almost 39% from the previous year. Since 1994, Romanian supply has decreased by 15% year on year. Romania was the 42nd largest exporter of Methanol in 2018, behind Sweden with 2.8 million kilograms. Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United States came in second, third and fourth respectively.
