Malaysia's exports of methanol are set to reach 2.2 billion kilograms by 2026, a 2.7% increase from 1.9 billion kilograms in 2021. This year-on-year growth has been steady since 2002, when exports rose by 1.1%. In 2021, Russia took the lead in methanol exports, followed by Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United States. Meanwhile, imports of methanol to Malaysia decreased by 7.7% in 2021, down to 273.7 million kilograms from 296.4 million kilograms in 2020. Since 2002, imports have gradually declined by 13.9%.
