Malaysia's imports of xylene are projected to drop by 3.4% a year, on average, over the next five years, from 21.5 million kilograms in 2021 to 17.8 million in 2026. Since 2002, Malaysian demand has fallen by an average of 2.6% annually. In 2021, the country ranked 12th, with the United States taking the lead at 21.5 million kilograms. Germany, Italy and Belgium were the next three. In 2018, Malaysia's exports of xylene rose 11.7% from 40,000 kilograms in 2017 to 44,680. Since 2003, there has been a 42.2% drop in supply. Denmark was the largest exporter in 2018, with 44,680 kilograms, followed by Singapore, the United States and the Netherlands.
