Laos is set to increase its agricultural area by almost 90,000 hectares by 2026. Currently, the country is ranked 87th in the world and has a total agricultural area of 1.6 million hectares. This marks a 0.8% increase year on year since 1966, when the area was slightly smaller. Sierra Leone overtook Laos this year with an agricultural area of 1.6 million hectares, overtaking Laos in the world rankings. India, Russia and China are the biggest agricultural countries in the world and respectively ranked 2, 3 and 4 in this ranking.
