Mozambique's animal feed exports have seen a significant decline in 2023. The country's shipments totaled approximately 414,000 kilograms this year, a sharp drop from around 498,000 kilograms in 2022. This represents a decrease of 16.9% compared to the previous year. The downward trend in Mozambique’s animal feed supply has been evident since 2019, with a year-on-year decrease averaging 10.3%. In 2023, Mozambique ranked as the 84th largest exporter of animal feed. Brunei slightly outpaced Mozambique with the same export volume of roughly 414,000 kilograms. Leading the global rankings were Germany, Belgium, and the United States, holding the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. On the import front, Mozambique’s demand for animal feed is projected to grow steadily. By 2028, the country's imports are expected to reach about 8.6 million kilograms, up from approximately 7.3 million kilograms in 2023. This represents an average annual growth rate of 2.6%. Since 2005, Mozambique’s animal feed imports have increased by an average of 2.1% each year.
