Mozambique’s consumption of millet is forecast to reach 4,000 metric tons by 2026, a 16.8% drop from 2021’s 11,000 metric tons. Since 2017, there has been a 9.8% yearly decrease in demand. In 2021, Mozambique ranked 37th in the world, with Indonesia coming in at number one with 11,000 metric tons. Niger, Nigeria and Mali took the second, third and fourth spots. Meanwhile, Mozambique’s production of millet is set to hit 6,600 metric tons in 2026, a 10.3% drop from 2021’s 12,290 metric tons. Since 1966, millet production has decreased by 10.2% annually. Mozambique came in at 43rd place in 2021, with the Republic of the Congo taking the top spot with 12,290 metric tons. Nigeria, China and Mali ranked second, third and fourth respectively.
