China's ethylene imports are set to reach 2.3 billion kilograms by 2026, growing at a 2.6% year-on-year compound annual growth rate since 1997. China came in second in 2021, behind Belgium's 1.9 billion kilograms. Indonesia, Germany, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Japan followed, respectively. China's ethylene exports, meanwhile, plummeted by 96.5% from 2017 to 2018, from 6.3 million kilograms to 223,120 kilograms. Since 1998, Chinese supply has grown at a 45% year-on-year rate. Slovakia overtook China in 2018, while South Korea, the United Kingdom and Japan followed, respectively.
