France is among the world's leading exporters and importers of ethylene. In 2021, the country exported 133,790,000 kilograms of ethylene, coming in 14th place. Saudi Arabia was top of the rankings, followed by South Korea, the United Kingdom and Japan. France imported 168,850,000 kilograms of ethylene in 2021, placing sixth in the rankings. The Netherlands overtook France with the highest imports, with China, Indonesia and Germany following. Between 1999 and 2021, French ethylene exports have grown on average by 2% year-on-year, while imports have decreased by 3.3% year-on-year. By 2026, exports are predicted to reach 110,960,000 kilograms, a decrease of 3.4% on the 2021 figure. Imports, meanwhile, are expected to reach 202,860,000 kilograms, an increase of 2.8%.
