Lamb production in Afghanistan is set to decline over the next five years. In 2021, the country produced 92,370 metric tons of lamb, making it the 26th largest producer globally. Indonesia led the field with 200,000 metric tons, followed by Australia, New Zealand and Algeria. However, Afghan lamb production is projected to drop 1% annually until 2026, resulting in a total of 85,860 metric tons. This would be a decrease of 3% compared to 1966 levels.
