Japan's pig production is expected to drop slightly in the next five years, from 2.2 million in 2021 to 2.2 million in 2026, according to a new report. This is a 0.4% decrease from the current rate of 0.5% year-on-year since 1966. Poland surpassed Japan in 2021 with 2.3 million heads, while the United States Virgin Islands, Brazil, and Spain came in at second, third, and fourth place, respectively. Consumption of pork in Japan is expected to grow over the same period, from 2.8 million metric tons in 2021 to 2.8 million in 2026, at a rate of 0.3% year-on-year on average. Since 2017, demand has grown 0.4% year-on-year.
