Burkinabe pig production is on the rise and is set to reach 576,290 heads by 2026. This is an increase of 1.3% per year from 534,570 heads in 2021. This increase has been in place since 1966, when production jumped by 1.8% year on year. In 2021, Burkinabe production was ranked number 45, with Portugal leading the way with 534,570 heads. The United States Virgin Islands, Brazil and Spain came in at numbers 2, 3 and 4 respectively. Burkinabe pork consumption is also on the rise and is forecast to reach 48.4 thousand metric tons by 2026, with an annual growth of 1.2%. Since 2017, consumption has increased by 0.8% year on year.
