Egyptian pet food exports plummeted to approximately 16,200 kilograms in 2023, a stark 54% decline from the 35,100 kilograms recorded in 2022. This marks a continued downward trend, with a 36.6% annual decrease in exports since 2012. In the global rankings for 2023, Egypt stood at 65th place, with Jordan surpassing it at the same export volume of 16,200 kilograms. Leading the rankings were France, the United States, and Poland in the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. On the import side, Egypt's pet food demand is projected to reach nearly 7.9 million kilograms by 2028, up from about 6.7 million kilograms in 2023. This represents an average annual growth rate of 2.6%. Since 1999, Egyptian pet food imports have been on a steady rise, increasing by 2.4% year on year.
