Kenya's pet food imports experienced a slight dip in 2018, totaling approximately 2.03 million kilograms. This marked a 3.7% decrease from the 2.1 million kilograms imported in 2017. Despite the recent decline, the nation's demand for pet food has been on an upward trajectory, averaging an 8.5% increase annually since 1997. On the export front, Kenya saw a significant drop in 2018. The country exported around 12,700 kilograms of pet food, a sharp decline of 46% from the 23,500 kilograms exported in 2017. Nonetheless, Kenyan pet food exports have grown steadily over the years, with an average annual increase of 5.9% since 1997.
