Over the past three decades, Japan's pet food supply has increased by 5% each year. In 2023, Japan ranked 32nd globally in pet food exports, with New Zealand surpassing it by matching Japan's export volume of almost 23 million kilograms. Leading the rankings were France, the United States, and Poland, occupying the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively.
