Bahamian pet food imports are projected to decline significantly over the next five years, according to recent data. By 2028, the volume of pet food imports is expected to drop to approximately 727,000 kilograms, a sharp decrease from the 1.01 million kilograms recorded in 2023. This represents an average annual decline of 5.2%. The downward trend is not new for the Bahamas. Since 2002, the country's demand for imported pet food has been decreasing at an average rate of 4.8% per year. The latest figures suggest that this trend is likely to continue, signaling a sustained reduction in pet food imports.
