Dominican pet food imports are projected to climb to approximately 6.8 million kilograms by 2028, up from around 6.1 million kilograms in 2023. This represents an average annual growth rate of 1.6%. Since 2007, the country's demand for pet food has been increasing at an average rate of 2.3% per year. In contrast, Dominican pet food exports have been on a downward trend. In 2017, exports totaled 477,000 kilograms, a decline of nearly 6% from the 507,000 kilograms recorded in 2016. Since 2016, the country's pet food supply for export has decreased dramatically, shrinking by more than 36% annually.
